Spring Has Sprung!

I have always been an animal lover.
Last year when I bought my house, one of the main attractors was that the backyard backs up to a farm.  There is a huge pasture with a cow, goats, pigs, and a rooster around the corner.  I have set up my office with a beautiful view.  I love watching them throughout the day.

Last week I went to let my dog out first things in the morning.  It was still dark and I saw flashlights and heard activity in the farm.  One of the goats had babies.  They were moving the mother and babies to another pasture on the other side of their house.  Every once in a while we can hear them but we can't see them.

Tonight when I came home, one of them was REALLY LOUD!  I went outside and saw this...

Later, letting the dog out again (It's a great excuse), the neighbors were moving the mother and baby.  Apparently this one was born TODAY!!!  How cute!  They had to move mom and baby to keep them safe from eagles until he grows a little.  I'm thrilled to have seen a day old baby! :)

  1. Awww how cute. Before my one son moved out of the country his neighbor had the little pygmy goats. They were adorable and funny to watch. : )

  2. How precious... and how very fortunate for you to have such a unique opportunity. A new lamb on the first day of spring....doesn't get any better!!!

    1. It was a great opportunity indeed! Usually the babies are moved before we even see them but this one was born almost in our back yard :)

  3. How cute. What an unusual little lamb, I don't think I have seen one like that. Is it a Jacob sheep lamb?

    1. I am not sure what kind it is. From the looks of the parents, it seems like it might be a Boer goat but I'm not sure.

  4. It is just amazing.
I'm from the countryside myself and such sights are what I really miss from there. I used to be in constant touch with goats, sheep, oxen, cows, geese, ducks, swans, eagles, owls, ants, moles, hedgehogs, hens, chickens, roosters...
    Thanks for sharing it.
And yes, Spring has finally sprung!

    1. I have grown very fond of living in a small town and especially living so close to these neighbors. They often have wild turkeys and sandhill cranes stop by their yard too. It is a beautiful site!

This is a wonderful story and you make me realise just how much I love living near the countryside over here, in England, this green and pleasant land.
What a lovely photo. Welcome to the rebirth that is Spring for us in the Northern Hemisphere :)
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, Penny xx
