PhotoPrompt Monday

There were so many great photos for PhotoPrompt Monday this week that I thought I would use a few of them for one post.  I have one more that I will try to post later in the week.

NEW BEGINNINGS

As Will and Kate returned from their honeymoon, they were excited to start their new life together in their new home, an inheritance from Will’s Grandma Elizabeth.  As they drove out of town to the old house, they admired the line of old oak trees lining the road.  The branches appeared to be waving at them, or were they waving them away?  Time would tell.

Kate was apprehensive about the new home.  It was far away from the busy city life she had lived.  There had been a shopping mall, movie theatre and restaurants on seemingly every corner.  She wasn’t sure what to think of the quiet surroundings full of open fields.

As they arrived at the house and began walking up the sidewalk, Kate felt that there had not been anyone here in a long time.  The landscape was overgrown, the grass needed to be cut, and the house was in need of some repairs.  They had almost gotten to the door when she noticed a flowered weed growing out of a crack in the sidewalk.  Spring seemed to be bringing new beginnings to all kinds of life.  She could relate.

As they went down to the cellar door, they were overwhelmed by it’s massive size and eeriness.  As is tradition, Will forced the door open.  He struggled to pry it open, pushing with all his strength.  Finally the door creaked open enough that he could carry Kate over the threshold.  However, once they were in, they were surprised to find…

Hmmm...can you tell I have been watching too much of the Queen's celebration? :)

  1. Very, very good use of the three prompts. I, also, thought that there might be something interesting/scary behind that cellar door.

    1. Thanks! I wasn't sure what would be behind the door either but I'm working on it. I will try to post a sequel in the next couple days

  2. Ackk! WHAT were they surprised to find!?!?!?!? Don't leave me hanging at the cellar door, lol!

Nice piece, Heather. It intrigued me that he was carrying Kate over the threshold into the cellar -- great question-raising quirk, that.
